Self-care treatments are all the rage these days, and rightfully so. If you’re having issues like wrinkles, arthritis pain, acne, scars, or just need rejuvenation from your hectic life, keep scrolling to learn more about Celluma Light-Emitting Diode (LED) Light Therapy.

What is Celluma LED Light Therapy?

Celluma LED Light Therapy is a type of low-level light therapy (LLLT) that uses different wavelengths to encourage the healing and vitality of bodily tissues. It’s an FDA-approved treatment that works at a cellular level by using red, blue, or near-infrared light.

The device used for this therapy is portable, lightweight, and flexible, making it easy to adjust to your body’s contour. The treatment takes only 30 minutes.

How Does Celluma LED Light Therapy work?

The key thing to remember here is that the wavelengths used for the treatment would be customized according to the person’s needs. This means someone who has scar issues would have a different treatment plan from one struggling with arthritic pain.

What are the Benefits of Celluma LED Light Therapy?

Now, let’s talk about each of those wavelengths and their benefits:

  • Red light, which has wavelengths around 620 to 750 nanometers,  goes through the skin deeper than other colors and encourages collagen production to reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

Also, it can help make your skin smoother in texture. In fact, in 2014, a controlled trial showed that after 30 sessions of twice-a-week treatments, the volunteers had better skin complexion and smoother texture. The study also reported that it was a safe and effective approach to reinvigorating the skin’s vitality.

  • Blue light, with shorter wavelengths from 450 to 495 nm, shows antimicrobial properties helpful in skin infections. A 2016 study concluded that blue light was effective against bacteria found in nosocomial wound infections. In addition, a more recent 2023 study reported that eight 10- or 20- minute blue light treatments are done in 4 weeks showed a decrease in inflammation in participants with mild to moderate acne.

  • Near-infrared light, from 800 to 2500 nm,  can improve the rate of wound healing, as evidenced by a 2017 study. Plus, it can help reduce inflammation and stress in your muscles, according to a 2016 study.

Are there any side effects to using Celluma LED Light Therapy?

Celluma LED light therapy is considered safe for most people since it doesn’t use ultraviolet light (UV), which may cause burns or skin damage. While rare and mild, these side effects may occur:

  • Inflammation
  • Redness
  • Pain

What are the side effects?

This kind of therapy isn’t advisable for everyone, including those who:

  •  Have a history of seizures or epilepsy
  •  Are currently using photosensitive medicines
  •  Are pregnant or nursing
  •  Have a type of cancer
  •  Are taking steroids
  •  Have an eye disease

If you have any other health concerns, it’s best to seek advice from your physician first.
